Monday Kickstart: Lost in Translation

Tell me again how Obama isn't the coolest president we've ever had.

It's disappointing to see so many people in that room with blank looks on their faces. What's worse is it wasn't necessarily old, stuffy Republican senators and cable news blowhards who weren't laughing. There were people under 30 who were sitting there lifeless. How does that happen? Luther is a national treasure.

Speaking of treasures, this week's inspiration is Ms. Muriel Villera:

Go 'head, mami. You're killing 'em. Let's go.

Monday Kickstart: Don't Sleep on Barry O.

Our president is the best of both worlds: a classy statesman, and an out-and-out gangsta on the mic.

That's as close as we may ever get to a sitting president saying, "Shut the fuck up.". You're a stone cold gangsta, Barry O.

As inspiring as it is to see a president who doesn't let the childish members of the GOP mess with his flow, I think we need a little more inspiration to kick this workweek off right. So, for that I'll hand the mic to Ms. Catherine Elizabeth:

Let's go.

POTUS Between Two Ferns

Barry killin' it. The Hangover 3 line is brutal.

(And get yourselves covered if you aren't already. America's been complaining for years that we're the only major country without government run healthcare, and now that a Black man's given it to y'all, y'all wanna sit on your hands like some jackasses, I swear to god if I read one more...)

Respect My Gangsta: Jon Stewart

You can have whatever view on President Obama that you want. But if you're against him, I hope you have a credible reason, and not one of the manufactured ones that the GOP likes to spin. And that's not to say there aren't credible criticisms to be made; you're just not going to hear many being used by Republicans in Congress who haven't made the slightest effort to work with him over the five years that he's been in office.

Monday Kickstart: Homey Don't Play That

You can tell me this will get old some day. But I won't believe you. I'll never believe you.

Other things that will never get old: selfies...Leola Bell...selfies by Leola Bell...

Yup. Let's go.

Monday Kickstart: Happy Endings & New Beginnings

Don't, worry, this is the last election-related thing I'll be posting. Probably. I think. I mean, if someone comes along with another great picture, etc., I can't guarantee I won't post it. Especially with Fox News and the GOP insisting that the only reason minority voters backed Obama is that we want food stamps and grape soda.

Onto much more progressive pursuits, though, such as beautiful women showing pride in their bodies. This week we turn to Stephy C (who also, apparently, goes by "Mariela Henderson"...it's Monday and she's way too hot for me to ask or care about why):

Let's go.

Worth a 1000 Words

From The Associated Press:

"Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak goes crowd surfing with his mother Loraine, after it was announced that President Barack Obama had won re-election, Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, at the Minnesota DFL Party headquarters at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in downtown St. Paul, Minn. (AP Photo/The Star Tribune, David Joles)"

TJ with the assist.

"Don't Call it a Comeback..."

"...I been here four years."

Congratulations on re-election, President Obama. Now that we're done with all the nonsense, we'll let you get back to leading this great country back from the hole it was in when you took over.

Forward

Our future depends on it. Frankly, to me it's inconceivable that anyone could have watched Mitt Romney lie his way back and forth across the nation over the past 10 months and still think he has any true plan, or any leadership qualities. Meanwhile President Obama has given us healthcare, ended the war in Iraq, killed Osama Bin Laden, and saved our economy from the abyss.

But, if you're somehow still undecided, please take a moment to listen to the words of Mr. Chris Rock:

"My President is Black..."

...and as I'm sure Katy will attest, you never go back. (What up though, girl?)

From The Huffington Post:
Katy Perry's doing her best get-out-the vote effort: At a rally for President Barack Obama, she wore a tight white dress imprinted like a ballot, and a square box on her right hip filled in the names of Obama and Joe Biden.

Perry gave a free concert at a park in a historically minority neighborhood just northwest of downtown Las Vegas to screaming fans at about 9 p.m., the same time Air Force One landed at McCarran International Airport across town.

Monday Kickstart: Big Ups

That's President Obama getting a pick-me-up from Scott Van Duzer, the owner of a pizza shop in Fort Pierce, FL. Van Duzer, a registered Republican, says he'll be voting for Obama in November.
"I don't vote party line, I vote who I feel comfortable with, and I do feel extremely comfortable with him," said Van Duzer, who also voted for Obama in 2008.
I also vote for who I feel comfortable with; if Kelly Brook ever enters the political arena, she's got my full support.

Let's go.

Cuttin' Up with Barry

Aziz Ansari gives the world a glimpse of President Obama behind the scenes. This honest, starstruck commentary on meeting someone more famous than yourself is why I love Aziz. And this unpretentious, unaffected affability is why I love Barack.
