Monday Kickstart: Spit That Hot Fiyah

WHY'S SHIA GOT MORE FLOW THAN IGGY, THO?

When Mondays strike, you always know you can count on Shia doing some Shia shit. You may not know exactly what that Shia shit will be, but you know it will be straight Shia. Coincidentally, I'm beginning to think "Shia" is Hebrew for "cray."

You can also count on Candace Rae making your jaw drop:

On the Spot

This kid's flow is ridiculous. And you've gotta love his mom and dad not only being at the studio, but being involved in the video. There's a lot of promise here.

Throwback Thursday Bonus: Death Row Records Freestyle

They say all you need is one mic. But you really don't even need that, so long as you have The D-O-double-G, Kurupt, and Daz rhyming while Dr. Dre holds it down on the soundboard piano.

Monday Kickstart: House of Bane

Before Tom Hardy was breaking Bruce Wayne, he was breaking beats.

Thus proving my theory that even ruthless mercenaries like some father/son freestyle time. Nothing could be a more heartwarming image.

Well, nothing except for Ms. Raquel Pomplun, that is:

Something from Nothing

Straight from The Smoking Section:
Hollywood can keep their summer blockbusters, bad popcorn and crowded theaters. Instead, rap heads can focus their sights on Something From Nothing: The Art Of Rap, the flick directed by Ice-T and focused on the music that we love. In a unique promo move, they managed to get two heavyweights in Nasir and Eminem to kick quick freestyles showcasing the film’s raw take on Hip-Hop.

Tyler Hansbrough a.k.a. B. Rabbit?

Shaquille O'Neal, Allen Iverson, Ron Artest...these days, it's somewhat commonplace for basketball stars to try their hand at hip-hop stardom. The worry of team owners, coaches, teammates, and fans, however, is often that a successful music career will distract the wannabe entertainer from his duties and responsibilities on the court.

Somehow, I don't think Tyler Hansbrough elicits much of that fear from those who have an invested interest in the North Carolina Tarheels.

From Rick Reilly at ESPN The Magazine (.com):
At the end of my interview with North Carolina's Tyler Hansbrough in Chapel Hill recently, I threw out: "Is it true you freestyle?" And he said, "Yeah, you wanna hear one?" And then he delivered this, without a milliliter of gangster:

Give the ball to
The tower of power
Pass it back out
Watch my main man Bobby
Drain threes like
He's in the shower

(Unsolicited rapper name suggestion: T-Painful.)
