Trailer: Entourage (2nd Official Trailer)

Something about this just feels off. The cinematography used during the series gave the show a spontaneous, in-the-present feel. This may not make sense to anyone who hasn't lived there, but the feel of the series was distinctly SoCal. The trailers for the movie, though, have a different cinematic look to them, and it's messing with the tone. I really hope that's not an ominous sign.

Trailer: Hot Tub Time Machine 2

I was kind of meh about the first one. It's good for an afternoon watch when there's no other options. This one...I don't know. It looks a bit funnier (not that the editing in a trailer is the most reliable of tells), and somehow I think that might actually be a result of Adam (Cusack's character) not being around this time. He was the solemn center throughout the last one, while Robinson, Corddry, and Duke's characters set the comedic tones. By removing the gravitas of Adam's existential mid-life crisis, you leave behind a ton of room for the other three to go nuts. And the chemistry between them is certainly much stronger the second time around—that harmonized "You're a nerd" clowning near the end is brilliant.

This might just be worth the price of a ticket and a large popcorn. [Warning: This clip is NSFW...unless you live in Europe, or other unoppressed parts of the world. In other words, there's boobs in it.]

Trailer: "Time Is Illmatic"

We live in the 30 for 30 era; and, as a result, any singular event given weight in my generation's mind will surely spawn a documentary exploring the depths of the story. Depths that are commonplace in today's news, but unknown 20 years ago, when the calmer news cycle of the day never bothered to drill that far.

My excitement for this doc is a cautious one; there are just too many ways in which it could go wrong. To be effective, it has to draw you into the belief that the release of a hip-hop album brought about a momentous change to the world we know. And while hyperbole is the law of the land in the artful realms of hip-hop and cinema, here in the real world I'm struggling to draw a connection between Illmatic and any historic upheavals of political or sociological significance in 1994. I am, to the core, an unabashed Nas fan. But I'm also an out-and-out realist.

This is the second trailer to be released after the Super Bowl spot that aired last month. I'm a fanboy, so you know I'm pumped. I can't wait to watch Optimus & his crew blow some shit up. And Dinobots are in the mix as well? Finally! #geekin

Welp, this is the early front-runner for best movie of 2014.



"If you wanna send me a letter, you've gotta send it 'Care of: her vagina'." Jesus this looks hilarious. Don't know if I can get used to MacFarlane's voice coming out of his own head, though; I'm so used to it coming out of Ted and Family Guy characters. And I hope Sarah Silverman's character has a bigger part in the film than she does in the trailer, because she might just steal the whole thing.

I like to think myself to be a man of wit and words. I feel that, at times, I can be as urbane and forthwith as an Aaron Sorkin protagonist who's alone with his thoughts in a Michael Chabon mystery. So what, then, was my immediate reaction upon viewing this newly released trailer from the upcoming space thriller that's rapidly gaining hype?

Where Dem Tits Go?

This is simply brilliant. I found myself torn between wanting to actually see the movie, and laughing at myself for wanting to see the movie. Similarly, I was torn between my utter infatuation with Olivia Munn and the image of her with a temporarily-enhanced bossom.

Trailer: Snow on tha Bluff

After three "Paranormal Activity" flicks, "Chronicle", "Project X", and seemingly hundreds of others (including "The Chernobyl Diaries", which is being promoted endlessly on TV these days), found-footage films have started to reach their saturation point. This, however, is the first truly fresh approach to the genre that we've seen.

From the film's website:

SNOW ON THA BLUFF is the story of, Atlanta robbery boy and crack dealer, Curtis Snow who steals a camera from some college kids in a dope deal and begins documenting his life. At first, it’s business as usual for Curt. He robs dope boys, he runs from the cops, and he sells drugs, all while trying to provide for his baby momma and 2-year-old son. But when one of the drug dealers he ripped off comes back for revenge, things in Curt’s life spirals out of control.

"Bluff" will be available soon on Netflix, and could definitely be worth your time.

"Transformers: Dark of the Moon" Trailers

You've probably seen these by now, but I figured I'd put them all in one post for perspective. DOTM is set to be a huge film, with Michael Bay putting a cap on the trilogy with all of the firepower he can muster. I think it's safe to assume that I'll be at the midnight release for this just like I was for the last film, "Revenge of the Fallen".
