Nearly Five Years Later

Four-and-a-half years after the incident occurred, Moises Alou has let Chicago Cubs whipping boy Steve Bartman off the hook.

Yes, nearly five years later, Alou says that he wasn't even going to make the catch that Bartman infamously interfered with in the 2003 NLCS that left Cubs fans heart-broken once again.

After the incident Bartman was forever villified for continuing the curse of the Cubs, who haven't won a championship in 1,345 1/2 years.

"Everywhere I play, even now, people still yell, 'Bartman! Bartman!' I feel really bad for the kid," Alou told Associated Press columnist Jim Litke.

"You know what the funny thing is?" he added a moment later. "I wouldn't have caught it, anyway."

Although your sentiments seem sympathetic, Moises Alou, you are an asshole. Why wouldn't you say this after the game?

Here's a link to the story.
