Joe Meets Pro

Last year White Sox catcher AJ Pierzynski threw out only a pitiful 16.2% of base stealers and no one gave him more shit about it than Chicago Sun-Times sports columnist Joe Cowley. So AJ threw out a challenge at the 39 year old writer.

10 attempts by Cowley to steal as many bases as he could off Pierzynski. Successful pick offs counted as outs.

Needless to say, as you can see in the video Cowley failed miserably. But his pathetic attempts are lol material nonetheless. And to Joe's credit the challenge didn't necessarily recreate a real game scenario.

For starters, a runner wouldn't be expected to sprint at full speed for numerous times in such a short amount of time. Not to mention the fact the Pierzynski is anticipating the runner moving on every pitch and not having a batter in the way.

But Cowley's own words sum it up pretty nicely. "It seemed like a good idea on paper..."
