I've always had a soft spot in my heart for Luther, whose first college game at the University of Illinois came against my alma mater, Eastern Illinois, and which involved him slamming home seven dunks. I know this because I was laying out the front page of the sports section in Springfield, Ill., that night, and he was the story of the game. My headline was "Head's Up Play" (thank you, thank you) and led the sports editor to immediately institute a rule that, for the duration of his NCAA career, no more headline puns involving his surname were allowed.
Anyhow, at one point I thought Luther would be a better pro player than teammate Deron Williams (which is probably why I'm not employed as an NBA scout). He isn't, but he's a nice role player for the Rockets, and on this play crackalacks Ronny Turiaf, who is a Daily Dunk chump for the second time this week.
