Badminton has always and will likely never cease being a relative joke compared to most sports. However, as everyone who took a high school gym class knows, (a. 99% of people who play badminton drastically overestimate their abilites, and (b. the sport can get a bit heated. This went down at the 2013 Canada Open, an event that exists.

The best part about this video may just be hearing a girl with a thick Canadian accent yelling, "STOP IT! STOP IIITTTT!"

Now that that's out of the way...this is great. If I was King of the World, the law would say fighting in public is okay, so long as both parties are wearing goofy costumes during the encounter.

The mascots for two Louisville high school basketball teams (Manuel High & Male High) brawled on the court during a meeting between the two schools last Friday. The two were supposed to engage in a friendly “duel” at midcourt during a break in the action, but it turned serious when one of the mascots tried to drop kick the other.

The packed gym roared as the two duked it out on the parquet before the game eventually resumed, but students of each respective school reportedly were in involved in fights in the parking lot after the game.

Fights in school and in parking lots, isn’t that the true spirit of high school?

I couldn't agree more. Now, can we move on to discussing why there's a high school in Kentucky called Male High?

Beijing Brawlin

Keep in mind, this was part of a goodwill tour.

Georgetown had to leave the court during the fourth quarter of its exhibition game against the Baiyi Rockets on Thursday night in Beijing after both benches emptied and a wild brawl erupted between the two teams. None of the Hoyas were seriously injured despite trading punches with the opposing players and having to dodge chairs thrown onto the court and water bottles hurled from the stands.

The best account of what led to the melee comes from the Washington Post's Gene Wang, apparently the lone U.S. reporter in attendance.

Wang wrote that the game was tense from the outset and had to be stopped earlier after two players exchanged words. At one point, a Rockets player even berated John Thompson III as the Georgetown coach yelled instructions to his players.

The hard fouls and constant bickering eventually devolved into bedlam when Bayi big man Hu Ke was called for a foul against Georgetown guard Jason Clark. The senior made it clear he did not appreciate the hard foul, sparking the initial exchange of shoves that led players from both benches to run onto the court in defense of their teammates.

Rumors that The Hero and I were involved for the opposing sides are pure hearsay. Video of the throwdown:
