Throwback Thursday: "Rollout (My Business)" — Ludacris

It's hard to name a more entertaining rapper than Ludacris. Sure, you'd probably chill the fuck out hanging with Snoop, walk through Manhattan like a boss hanging with Jay, or hear a lifetime of stories hanging with Nas. But there can't be another emcee who you would have more pure fun rolling with than Luda.

Throwback Thursday: "Stand Up" -- Ludacris ft. Shawnna

Somehow, Luda has been shut out of Throwback Thursday posts up until now. All I can do, homie, is offer my apologies. Hopefully posting this 2003 banger off of Chicken-n-Beer will help to atone.

Like last week, this is a video stocked with cameos. Can you spot Yeezy, Katt Williams, and Lauren London?

Putting Money Where Their Mouths Are

Who was hip-hop's top earner in the past year? No surprises here.

From MSN.com:
Four years ago Jay-Z issued a lyrical taunt to his fellow rappers: "What you call money, I pay more in taxes." Turns out his line was more than just a boast.

Jay-Z pulled in $63 million over the past 12 months, earning him his second-straight hip-hop cash crown. His income level places him in the 35 percent tax bracket, which means he'll pay Uncle Sam about $22 million this year -- a sum greater than the total earnings of any other rap star besides second-ranked Diddy.

Given today's financial landscape, as well as the woes of the record industry, it's worth noting that just about everyone in Forbes' top 20 has another hustle besides rap. And in most cases, the performer saw a significant portion of his earnings come from his other business ventures.

Video: Ciara ft. Ludacris "Ride"

Corner Sleeper brought this one to my attention. I looked it over quickly a day or two ago but obviously slept on this madness. As I paid attention to the detail, I noticed that this video is beyond post-worthy. Not that anyone is paying attention to the music but Luda does have a nice verse.

Luda Pulls an Oprah

(Which is ironic, given how she dissed him in the past...)

Ludacris brightened the lives of 20 people in the Atlanta area this weekend, giving each of them a car through his foundation.
Ludacris said he was taken aback after reading thousands of essays by people struggling or unable to buy cars needed to get to and from work or find jobs. The 31-year-old rapper felt he could step in and move them ahead, partnering with a suburban Atlanta dealership for Sunday's giveaway.

"People are getting laid off, and now are looking for jobs," Ludacris said. "To be efficient, you need some transportation of your own to get there. That's why I wanted to give back to those who need it."

Luda's definitely one of the good ones, and I'm glad to see him making the most of his opportunity to give back to the community. The full news article can be found here.

If you've ever been to a rap video casting call, you know the deal: a bunch of hungry sexy women willing to show out just to get 10 seconds of fame.

If not, here's a sample of what it's like:

Download: Ludacris ft. The Game and Willy Northpole "Call Up the Homies (clean)"

This is a decent joint from Luda's upcoming "Theater of the Mind" album. Hopefully the rest of the songs are better than this one. Something about the beat and chemistry of emcees just doesn't fit.

Ludacris + Obama = Republican wet dream

Here Faux News tries to dig into Barack Obama because Ludacris maded a song ("Politics as Usual") supporting Obama. Just wait until they realize that half of the rappers out there have shouted Obama out in there songs. Those guys at Faux are so sharp.
