Throwback Thursday: "Funkdafied" -- Da Brat ft. Jermaine Dupri

Da Brat arrived on the scene in 1994 with this banger that went to #1 on the charts and had folks shaking asses from coast to coast. And that's appropriate, since Dupri and the So So Def label were based in Atlanta, Da Brat is from Chicago, and the song samples an Isley Brothers track—a move straight out of the Death Row/Dr. Dre/Snoop Dogg playbook.

Geography can be so damn funky.

Throwback Thursday: "Warm It Up" -- Kris Kross

Really don't think there was any question what today's throwback would be after last night's news that Chris Kelly—a.k.a. Mac Daddy—passed away. R.I.P.

Real Husbands of Hollywood

Okay, so there was another reason to watch the BET Awards besides Teairra Marie's red carpet appearance. Kevin Hart kills, of course, but so does Nick Cannon. Good to see he can laugh at himself.

"When a man talk about your wife, and... and you can't really rap... What you 'posed to do?"

My boy Pro with the assist. Video quality ain't great, but BET's versions won't play when embedded [I mean, really? Even their web media content is ghetto? *sigh*...]

Video of the Day: Nelly ft. J.D. and Ciara "Stepped On My J's"

Don't worry, I'm not fan of Nelly (although I'm not a hater either), but seeing as we are shoe aficionados here at Crooked Straight, I can't help but put this video up. It's a bitch when someone steps on your new J's. I hope Nelly is getting paid by Nike after his Air Force 1's song and now this. If not, then he needs a new agent.
