His Airness Rises Above

I like this. Don't remember hearing the MJ part before, but it fits perfectly here. Props to my boy Dom with the assist.

Air's Choice as an Heir?

The Kobe vs. LeBron tug-of-war may never end. But the man who may have more insight than anyone else regarding this debate sees a clear choice. It's also important to note that this video was taken last summer, prior to LeBron's playoff meltdown and "Miami Rhapsody", and long before Kobe's 5th championship.

MJ Retirement Commercial Revisited

Somehow I don't even remember this commercial but it's a classic and I found it over at the Triple Crown blog.

Long live the best to ever play the game...

Until Lebron takes that spot.

NBA's All-Time buzzer beaters

Any clip that has a Michael Jordan classic moment followed by one of Seattle's finest (Jamal Crawford), will be going up on this site. But this is actually a tight video compilation of some historic and even some not historic NBA buzzer beaters. This is the official Monday motivator. Get it together.

Daily Dunk: Michael Jordan

I was trying to think of a dunk to put up in TJ's absence and I thought why not give a salute to the all-time best?

I think if I could have had any pro athlete's career, it would have been Jordan's. Number seven is just clowning the whole Heat squad.

Have a good weekend.

Daily Dunk: LaBradford Smith

LaBradford Smith was an athletic guard/forward for Louisville from 1987-91 who averaged double digits all four years in college and hitting better than 35 percent from behind the arc from his sophomore year on. The Bullets took him in the first round in 1991 and he ran with them for a couple of years before falling out of the league.

He's most famous for being the dumbass who pissed off Michael Jordan on March 19, 1993, by dropping 37 points - his career high - in a loss. NBA heads know Mike flipped out after the game and promised to drop that many in the first half in the second game of the back-to-back set with Washington. He walks into the locker room at halftime with 36 after rimming out a jumper at the buzzer.

Anyhow, Smith was another leaper from Louisville, and here he is showing excellent form on the double-pump reverse on a breakaway against UCLA.

Jordan vs. Kobe video game shelved

Due to his performance in last night's unprecedented loss to Eddie House and the Celtics, EA Sports has decided to discontinue all production on the "Jordan Vs. Kobe" video game that it had plans for.

Kind of.

Read the hilarious blog about it here on gump4heisman.

Daily Dunk: MJ vs. Dominique Dunk Contest

These two men are the reason that the adjustable height basketball hoop was invented. So every 12-18 year-old could emulate them when playing 21 with their friends. I know I got some windmills thrown down on my dome many times in the alley.

Kobe Bryant: The Man, The Myth, The Muse.

Kobe Bryant is easily the most polarising sports-figure of the 21st century. Most people who care about basketball have a love-hate relationship with him. They love his talent and hate pretty much everything else. But can you imagine how boring professional basketball would be without him? Tim Duncan might be the most successful basketball player of his generation, but Kobe is the face of the generation. In honour of that...

Ever wonder where Kobe gets his inspiration?

I know what you're wondering. "What would Bohemian Rhapsody have sounded like if it was written about Kobe and the Lakers?" Well wonder no more.

Barkley on MJ's Divorce (Comedy)

How can you not love Charles Barkley? Here is some brutal honesty that he directed at his good buddy Michael Jordan in regards to his recent divorce:

"We've been giving Michael a hard time," Barkley told a crowd at the SMU Athletic Forum lunch at the Hilton Anatole on Wednesday. "He just got a divorce [and it was like] damn, bro, you wrote a check for $175 million? Are you kidding me? You must have some damn money. If you can write a check for $175 million, you're damn loaded."

Barkley went on to say that "sports is definitely not the place to be sensitive, no matter what it is. We're going to ride you unmercifully and we told him, 'It's probably bad to write a check for $175 million, but it's going to get worse. When you go visit your kids, there's going to be a guy sitting in your chair, wearing your robe, smoking a cigar."

The crowd erupted in laughter, but Barkley still had one more zinger for Jordan, saying: "You better hope it ain't one of us. You better hope it ain't one of your boys. We're all looking for a woman with $175 million."
