The best running back duos in the NFL

Last night I was watching the Carolina Panthers run all over the highly touted Tampa Bay run defense and wondered who is better, the Tennessee combination of LenDale White and Chris Johnson or Carolina's DeAngelo Williams and Johnathan Stewart? Keep in mind at this point I had no statistical knowledge, so I decided to look it up.

Here are the best running back duos in the NFL. The difference between first and second is very minimal considering the Panthers have 72 more yards but one less touchdown than the Titans, but because each Panther running back has more yards than their Titans counterpart, I'm listing them first.

The teams listed were the only eight teams with two running backs with at least 500 yards. The Giants and Ravens have the best three RB combos by a long shot, with New York's Ahmad Bradshaw (319, 1) and Baltimore's Ray Rice (454, 0) putting up big yardage this season.

Yards listed first, touchdowns second:

1. Carolina Panthers: 1840, 21
...DeAngelo Williams: 1141, 13
...Jonathan Stewart: 699, 8

2. Tennessee Titans: 1768, 22

...Chris Johnson: 1094, 8
...LenDale White: 674, 14

3. New York Giants: 1701, 14
...Brandon Jacobs: 1002, 12
...Derrick Ward: 669, 2

4. Miami Dolphins: 1312, 13
...Ronnie Brown: 760, 10
...Ricky Williams: 552, 3

5. Jacksonville Jaguars: 1163, 12
...Maurice Jones-Drew: 607, 11
...Fred Taylor: 556, 1

6. Baltimore Ravens: 1127, 12
...Le'Ron McClain: 606, 7
...Willis McGahee: 521, 5

7. Pittsburgh Steelers: 1118, 9
...Willie Parker: 597, 4
...Mewelde Moore: 521, 5

8. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 1252, 6
...Warrick Dunn: 689, 2
...Earnest Graham: 563, 4

Suprisingly the Denver Broncos are among five teams with no rushers over 500 yards. That group includes the Saints, Bengals, Cardinals, Patriots and Broncos.
