Monday Kickstart: Focus

I know, I know... That picture has done about 20 laps around Facebook over the past couple of months. But it's Monday morning, I haven't had any coffee yet, and I'm late in getting a Kickstart post up on the page. So, in summation: Fight me.

I have a feeling, though, that after seeing this picture of the newly-crowned Miss USA, Olivia Culpo, you won't be in much of a fighting mood anymore.

Yup, didn't think so. Congrats, Olivia. Let's go.

By now I'm sure you've read the headlines about a contestant of Arab-American heritage, Rima Fakih, winning the crown for the first time (and I'm sure it took reading about it to even know that, since no one with even half of a life actually watches the show). As someone who's been to the state hundreds of times, I want to verify Miss Pierson's paperwork. I find it hard to believe anyone that fine is actually from West Virginia.

I'm a Cali native, which makes this clip rather painful for me to watch. The state and its representative in the Miss USA pageant both take a beating. Although it was somewhat redeeming to see Perez Hilton's pride get taken out as part of the collateral damage.

What is the craziest thing you have ever done?
During graduate school final exams last semester, also known as crunch time, I did not sleep for four days straight due to having three research papers and two take-home exams! I was definitely running on adrenaline and diet coke! And I am happy to say that I did get all A's.

That is the wackest answer I have ever heard. If she makes the top 49 of the contest, I will be thoroughly disappointed in our countrymen.
