Daily Dunk(s): Taj Gibson

Mr. Gibson got his grown man on in last night's Eastern Conference Championship Game 1. First, he abused Dwyane Wade with a second quarter slam that caused Twitter, Facebook, and my phone erupt in unison; I wasn't near a TV at that moment, but tweets, statuses, and texts from countless people alerted me to what had just happened. This included a text from lifelong Bulls fan TJ: "TAJ GIBSON JUST DUNKED WADE INTO NEXT YEAR".

Then, with the game well in hand in the fourth quarter, Gibson let loose another gem, catching a rebound and dunking the ball so ferociously that it sounded like a gunshot.

It's only been one game, but the Heat may have a problem on their hands.

Daily Dunk: Guy Dupuy

Please excuse the fact that we're still calling this a "daily" dunk, when we only post them once every few weeks. Please also excuse the fact that about 90% of my "Daily Dunk" posts are of Guy Dupuy. But this mothashutyamouth is mean.

You thought Blake Griffin's dunk over a car at the NBA Slam Dunk Contest was sick? Mr. Dupuy would like to take this moment to say, "Nucca please!"

Daily Dunk: Guess Who

I'm running out of things to say about this kid, so I'll just quote ESPN's J.A. Adande tweet: "Griffin almost hit his head on the international space station while throwing down an alley oop."

Daily Dunk: Jeremy Pargo

Yeah, we've been slacking on the DDs a bit, folks, and for that we apologize. But I'm making it up to you with this absolute sickness. Remember Jeremy Pargo? One-time Gonzaga stud, the brother of NBA player Jannero (and a Chi-Town native)? He's doing his thing in the Israeli pros. And his thing, it seems, is to completely shatter ankles and faces, occasionally on the same play. Your second candidate for dunk of the year.

Daily Dunk: Ronnie Price

We're gonna go back a few years for this one, just because it needs some love. Current Utah backup PG Ronnie Price broke into the NBA as an undrafted free agent with the Kings in 2005. The next year, he went all John Starks on Carlos Boozer. For some perspective, Price is 6'2, 187. Booze is 6'9, 266. Didn't matter, cuz Ronnie has a 41.5-inch vertical leap. Ouch.

Daily Dunk: Dejuan Blair

This goes out to Defi, as Pittsburgh native and Pitt product Dejuan Blair emphatically introduces himself to Emeka Okafor. Bonus points for the ball going off Mek's grill after Dejuan slams it.

Daily Dunk(s): Blake Griffin, Again

OK, this is getting ridiculous. I want to post something other than the Blake Show, but he's making it impossible to look away. This game was actually Saturday, and we've missed a couple of days' worth of Daily Dunks, so here's a two-fer. He turns Timofey Mozgov into Frederic Weis, and then demonstrates why Danilo Gallinari is considered a weak defender. The Mozgov dunk is your early-season candidate for dunk of the year.

All I can say is, Blake Griffin must REALLY hate foreigners.

Daily Dunk: Sonny Weems

We don't get to feature small-time players and journeymen much in the Daily Dunk, so let's show some love for Sonny Weems (one of the best names in the NBA right now), who shakes half the city of Oakland when he goes behind the back and up for the jam.

Daily Dunk: Emeka Okafor

Yes, it's Saturday, but we couldn't let this one this one slide cuz it's just so damn pretty. CP3 and Mek demonstrate how to finish off a pick-and-roll proper-like.

Daily Dunk: Eric Gordon

Dejuan Blair, I have seen Tim Duncan, I have appreciated Tim Duncan, and you, sir, are no Tim Duncan. Especially when Eric Gordon emasculates you like this.

Daily Dunk: Blake Griffin

Well, the man JA Adande already has dubbed "The Blake Show" got his first NBA points. Boy, did he.

Daily Dunk: Keion Bell

I feel obligated to post this, even though I personally have an issue with dunkers who appear to dunk over a person — or a group of persons — except they need to gain height and distance by pushing off someone's shoulder. If you clear everyone off straight ups, then it's props all day. But even my 5'10 ass could dunk if you let me vault.
