Two New Hova Songs

So far I'm feeling the "Star is Born" song, mainly for the concept. Neither of these songs are very impressive to me. I have to say that Kanye is now getting a bit irritating to me on a lot of tracks. Do we really need to hear Kanye West and Jay-Z rap about how they have haters? I mean... come on. Y'all both sold over ten million albums and you're worried about your haters? I'm 100% sure if this song is on the album, I'll be skipping it every time.

Prahlad Friedman (aka Spirit Rock) wins WPT Legends of Poker Main Event

Some of the poker folks remember Friedman from a couple different WSOP main events on ESPN, when he had the ante argument with Jeff Lisandro.

Friedman, an online legend and fellow Seattleite, took down his first WPT title.

Using Your Head

Great video of a college student in Pakistan who, when finding himself trapped behind a seemingly immovable barrier, resorts to extreme actions to gain his freedom. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

This school must not offer a class on using automatic doors. No, that wasn't Pakistanimal, but I really hope it's one of his relatives.

Cheddar Plax is Goin' Upstate

And I don't mean Buffalo. If you were planning on being cute and drafting Plaxico Burress late in your fantasy football draft—figuring you'd keep him locked up in the event he somehow ended up signing with a team midway through the season and coming out of nowhere to put up big numbers—you can now give up those plans.

From ESPN.com:
NEW YORK -- Former New York Giants receiver Plaxico Burress pleaded guilty Thursday to a weapons charge and agreed to a two-year prison term for accidentally shooting himself at a Manhattan nightclub.

Burress pleaded guilty to one count of attempted criminal possession of a weapon, a lesser charge than he initially faced. Under a plea agreement, he agreed to a two-year prison sentence and two years of supervised release.

At the very least he'll serve 20 months, in which case he would be released in April 2011.

Man I hope Al Davis is dead by then. The full article can be read here.

Massive Monkees Boyeeeeeee

Week 2 of ABDC and despite having to use some questionable props, my guys move on to the next round with ease...

Catching up with "Starbury"

Man has this guy hit the bottoms. Just when we thought it couldn't get any worse than breaking down in tears to gospel for no apparent reason, former future hall-of-famer (we thought) Stephon Marbury pulls these dance moves out of his bag of tricks.

Wow.

Jordan Retro VII DMP Orlando Pack

I've already copped these.

From Kixandthecity:
The second Air Jordan DMP 60+ pack, the Orlando Air Jordan Retro VII DMP, is set to officially release tomorrow, August 15th. The Air Jordan Retro VII DMP 60+ Pack is inspired by Michael Jordan's 64 point outburst against the Orlando Magic in 1996. The Air Jordan Retro VII DMP 60+ Pack features an Orlando Magic inspired Air Jordan Retro VII and the Black/Red Air Jordan Retro VII that MJ wore that season.

The Orlando Air Jordan Retro VII features a White leather upper with Black and Blue accents. The Blue hits in the midsole feature a crackled print and the tongue features a pinstripe design that links back to the old Orlando Magic Black/White pinstriped uniforms.

The Black/Red Air Jordan Retro VII is a retro of the Black/Red aka "Raptor" Air Jordan Retro VII. A little different than the last retro and a little close to the OG, the Black/Red Air Jordan Retro VII 60+ features a Light Grey/Black nubuck upper instead of the full Black upper. Everything else, the Red/Purple/Orange accents, remains in tact.

The Air Jordan Retro VII (7) DMP Orlando 60+ Pack is set to release August 15th for a retail of $310.

Stand and Deliver: Steve Byrne

Steve Byrne is a Pittsburgh boy, which comes through in his stand-up (if you live or have lived around here, you know what I mean). I've only seen a few things from him here and there, but it's all been on point. Funny bit here about overhearing people engaged in relations.

"I'm gettin high off my money 'til I O.D."

According to a recent study, as much as 90% of the paper money circulating in the U.S. has traces of cocaine on it.

From National Geographic:
If you live in the United States or Canada, chances are you have cocaine in your wallet.

Nearly nine out of ten bills circulating in the U.S. and its northern neighbor are tainted with cocaine, according to what's being called the most definitive research to date on the subject.

An interesting read (credit goes to TJ for the find). The full article can be found here.

Massive Monkees Online Store opening tonight

My guys from the 206 are starting to work that consumer angle... show some love to the dopest bboys on the planet.

Also don't forget to vote for them on the MTV show "America's Best Dance Crew."

Wedding Fever

Seems cool wedding dances aren't restricted to the Anglo-Saxon cultures. And though this isn't as big a production as the now famous Minnesota wedding video, it's highly entertaining nonetheless.

Tail Report: Sienna Miller

I like Sienna, though many of my fellow Pittsburgh residents don't. All because she referred to this town as "Shitsburgh". Well, if you've lived here for over a month and don't agree with that assessment, then you're in denial. (My mother, born and raised here, often jokingly referred to it as "Pissburgh" in my early years when we lived in SoCal—though she made me promise not to repeat that in front of our relatives who still lived back this way). I for one applaud Miss Miller's honesty. I also applaud her fondness for bikinis. As does FHM, who put together a mini gallery of her recent poolside appearances (including one photo of her at a pool with a "relaxed" dress code...ahhh, Europe).

No matter how bad G.I. Joe may be looking to critics, it's looking a little better to me now.

Triple Digit MPG?

GM has announced that the new Chevrolet Volt, an electric/gas hybrid, will get an estimated 230 miles per gallon in city driving. 2-HUNDRED-30 per gallon. If this is true, you would only have to buy gas a few times a year (depending on your driving habits). Not only that, but charging the electric motor at home will only cost you about 40 cents per day.

Keep in mind that this mpg has not been confirmed by the Environmental Protection Agency just yet. Also, the Volt is supposed to start at about $40,000 when it hits showrooms late next year. But if the EPA backs up that gas mileage claim, the price isn't all that bad. Can't front—I'm starting to consider buying one as a second car. The full article can be read on Yahoo News (click here).

Tail Report: Olivia Munn (Comic-Con Edition)

Olivia is often referred to as being queen of the geeks, thanks to her work on G4 and her embracement of pop-culture idolatry (not to mention her affable nature and obvious beauty). She's one of my favorites, and not just because of the Transformers fanboy inside of me. (Unless she starts dressing up as Arcee. That would be hhhoooottttt.)

So it only makes sense that at this year's Comic-Con, she donned a series of iconic costumes as a "thank you" of sorts to her millions of fans. (No, no, Olivia; thank you.) The full gallery can be found at FHM.
